Introduction:
Inner Mongolia University (IMU) is located in Hohhot City, capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region(IMAR) and a famous historic and cultural city which is over 400 kilometers away from Beijing. Being the first university which was established by the Communist Paty of China(CPC) and the state in ethnic minority regions after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, IMU was launched at a high starting point in 1957. Ulanhu, then vice premier of the State Council and governor of IMAR, was the first president of IMU(1956-1968) and Yu Beichen, former deputy director general of the Department of Universities of the Ministry of Higher Education, vice president. Li Jitong, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), renowned biologist, Class A professor with Peking University and PhD of Yale University, came to teach at IMU and acted as the vice president of the university in charge of academic affairs. Besides, the CPC Central Committee and the central government selected a batch of well-known discipline leaders and academic backbones from a dozen or so prestigious universities across China, including Peking University, who brought with them long-accumulated academic traditions and sublime spirits of universities, which laid a solid foundation of management and healthy academic and campus atmosphere for the subsequent development of IMU.
