Assoc. Prof. Bin Hu

Beijing University of Technology, China

Biography:

Bin Hu, born in June 1972, graduated from the School of Architecture at Harbin Institute of Technology in 2002, majoring in Architecture. He holds a PhD, associate professor, and master's supervisor. He is also the director of the Underground Space Planning and Design Research Institute at Beijing Institute of Technology, a national first-class registered architect, and the deputy chief architect of the school's design institute. Young and middle-aged backbone teachers in Beijing, outstanding talents in the Organization Department. Main research areas: public building design and theory, urban design, underground space planning and design, rail transit and urban integration development, etc. Engaged in architectural design and urban design theory and practice for over 20 years. Responsible for and participated in more than 10 national, provincial, and ministerial level scientific research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Beijing Municipal Natural Science Foundation of China, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission Fund, and the Beijing Municipal Planning and Self Commission Special Topics. Published over 50 papers as the first author, including more than 20 papers in the core journals of Peking University.

Assoc. Prof. Mohammad Arif Kamal

Biography:

Dr. Mohammad Arif Kamal is an Architect having 20 years of Teaching, Research and Professional experience in the field of Architecture, Building Technology and Interior Design. He did his Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch.) with Honors from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India in 2000, and secured a Master of Architecture (M. Arch.) on an MHRD GATE Fellowship from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, in 2002 and Ph.D. in ‘Energy Responsiveness in Traditional Residential Buildings of Lucknow’ on MHRD Fellowship, from IIT, Roorkee in 2007. His major fields of interest are Environmental Design, Sustainable Architecture, Energy Efficiency in Buildings, Climate Responsive Architecture, and Traditional Architecture etc. Dr. Kamal is presently working as an Associate Professor at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He has published 5 books and edited 4 Special Topic Volumes related to Sustainable Building Materials, published by Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. He has published extensively around 120 papers in International Journals and Conferences. Dr. Kamal has an h-index of 13 and i10 index of 20 with around 883 Citations (Highest in Architecture in India). Dr. Kamal is an Editorial Board Member of many International Journals (including Scopus indexed Journals) and Conferences related to the Field of Architectural Engineering and Building Technology. He has evaluated research theses for several universities in India and abroad. He is a lifetime member of the Council of Architecture, India, and an Associate member of the Indian Institute of Architects, India. He is also a panel member of several International Research Organizations and Professional Bodies.

Biography:

Prof. Haliza Abdul Rahman current research interests are public participation and involvement in environmental issues, sustainability science and environmental governance including environmental policy and law. Most of her research use mixed methods which is quantitative (questionnaires, fieldwork etc) and qualitative (FDG, interview etc) now she working on youth involvement in environmental issues.

Assoc. Prof. Mohammadreza Vafaei

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia

Biography:

Prof. Mohammadreza Vafaei is an Associate Professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Prior to joining UTM, he served as the head of the structural department for a well-reputed consulting company in Iran for 8 years. He has led the structural design of numerous steel and concrete structures, including air traffic control towers, tall residential buildings, elevated steel water tanks, buried concrete water tanks, swimming pools, lattice telecommunication towers, steel bridges, and monumental structures. His research interests encompass seismic design and retrofitting of structures, vibration control, and structural health monitoring.
